Back in town - Brian

13 June, 2007 (14:22) | Spain

Shannon and I just returned from a 3 week trip to the US for work and to see some family.  It was nice to visit, but as they say, its also very nice to be home again.

May was the month of voting here in Andalucia for all the local offices.  That went by relatively unnoticed here, because the only vote that matters here in Granada is a vote for the Alhambra.  The town has 7 Wonders mania.  Before our trip to the US I had no good sense if the contest for the new Seven Wonders of the World is a big deal for people or not, now I think I know – if you don’t live near one of the candidates then you probably haven’t voted yet.  It looks like a building built by the 700′s (if not earlier) that is amazing to see is going to lose out to the Eiffel Tower, which if I recall is not that old or interesting.

Think of this as my call to “get out the vote” for the Alhambra, and please, don’t vote for things less than 500 years old, they could fall down tomorrow for all we know.
