Loss - Brian
This month has been full of loss for us, I haven’t been writing much as a result.
In the beginning of July we returned from a trip to Valencia with heavy hearts; the morning we were to return home we received a phone call from our dog kennel here in Granada that Emmo had passed away. I was lucky enough to know Emmo from the time he was one week old and to be his constant companion for 9 years. We posted some photos of his life with us, we cried a lot as we looked through all the photos we have of the life we shared with Emmo. We still cry as we are reminded of him in so many ways as part of our lives, we truly miss him.
We returned this week from Dublin and before we had unpacked we received a devastating phone call. Our dear friend Georges passed away earlier this week. From the moment Shannon and I met Georges we all knew we’d be lifelong friends. We knew him for far less time in our lives than we would have liked but we are thankful for all the time we had. Georges performed our wedding ceremony for us; he was a wonderful and generous friend who had mastered the art of listening and countless other things he loved and thought were important, from architecture to photography to education to parenting. We miss him terribly and are going to Houston this evening to say our goodbyes at his funeral.
Until now I have been fortunate and haven’t had a need to reflect upon loss deeply.
