But what are the dogs’ names? - Brian

While listening to Mrs. Palin’s acceptance speech, I was of course horrified by the civil liberties bit (Here’s hoping…) which is a very serious issue for me. The speech also struck a humorous note with me that I thought I’d share today.

The speech was in part intended to be a “get to know me” speech for America at large, most of whom had never heard of Mrs. Palin prior to John McCain choosing her as his vice-presidential candidate.

She’s married to Todd and has 5 children; the children are: Track, Trig, Bristol, Willow and Piper and range from 19 to less than a year old.

Having just recently welcomed a new dog into our house, Roscoe, I can appreciate the care and thought that goes in to selecting a name for a family member. I admit I’ve never been to Alaska and perhaps things are different there, but, were someone to tell me any of the names above as a new family member, my first response would be “That’s great, what breed (of dog) are they?”.

So the kids have unusual names, fine. But what really piqued my interest is the omission of any mention of family pets – surely they exist? What are their names? Jim? Mary?

A friend pointed me to the Palin name finder – http://politsk.blogspot.com/2008/09/sarah_13.html – check it out to see what your name would’ve been if you’d been born a Palin.
